Practical things that help

Set a limit before you start — time and money — and stop when you reach it, win or lose.
Never play with money you need. If losing it would change your week, it is not entertainment money.
Take real breaks. Days off, not minutes.
Do not chase. Losses are the cost of the entertainment, not a debt to recover.
Use self-exclusion. Most sweepstakes casinos offer it, and every US state has a self-exclusion programme. It works, and asking for it is a strength.
